Titans gut out win over Texans on Monday Night
Maybe Chris Johnson isn’t all that crazy. Everybody knows the Titans RB can run the ball like nobody’s business but when he started handicapping NFL games a few weeks ago and claimed that the Titans would rattle off ten straight wins the crazy quotient was upped to absurd levels.
Yet anyone who saw the Titans bull-doze their way to a Monday Night football betting win over the Texans has to admit, a Tennessee run doesn’t seem quite as ridiculous as it once did. After starting the season 0-6 there is absolutely no one could foresee a four-game winning streak but the team’s turnaround boils down to two key events: Vince Young taking over the starting role and Johnson emerging as the best back in the NFL.
Monday Night football odds fans got a chance to see both of these men in action on Monday and it’s hard not to be impressed. What makes Johnson special is easy to identify: the dude is a blazer. If he gets an inch of daylight he’s gone; he can also break tackles.
What makes Young so impressive is hard to define. His stats are awful yet every time he has the ball in his hands it seems like the team is headed for the end zone. The Texans (5-5) could not stop him when it counted most and now find themselves in third place in a suddenly competitive AFC South. After getting off the best start in franchise history this team is now at .500 and the playoffs look like an impossibility. Houston is still a game up on the Titans but somehow it seems more plausible that red hot Tennessee has a better shot at the post season than the once surging Texans.
