There remains no doubt, Saints are the league’s best
For anyone hoping to see a good game in the latest so-called ‘game of the year’ on Monday night between the Saints and Pats, you were sorely disappointed. For anyone not sure who the best team in the NFL is you’re doubts were put to rest. And for any NFL team out there trying to prevent the Saints from having a perfect season, good luck. You’ll need it.
Never in recent memory in such a hyped Monday Night football betting matchup between two of the league’s best has one team so thoroughly dominated the other. And it wasn’t as if the Pats beat themselves. As a team, New England was relatively error-free. It was simply that the Saints were so dominant.
True, the Pats were playing on the road in the very hostile Super Dome. But to put things in perspective, just two weeks prior the Pats played the NFL’s only other undefeated team (the Colts) on the road in a very hostile arena and by all accounts should have won if not for a lunatic play call late in the fourth quarter. In contrast the Saints beat the Pats in every phase of the game in the Monday Night football odds contest and dominated New England in a way not seen since King George’s troops patrolled the colonial streets.
The Pats mustered very little pass rush and in nearly every blitz situation Drew Brees burned them by finding the hot receiver. On offense Tom Brady was nearly killed and forced into making several games worth of bad throws. This Monday Night football betting outcome was a revelation for many observers, but simply reinforced what Saints fans knew all along: New Orleans has the best football team in the NFL.
