Monday Night Matchup (Saints vs. Falcons) is Game of the Week
It’s been a long, long time since a New Orleans versus Atlanta match up was of any interest to the general football public, but tonight’s match up in the Monday Night football betting couldn’t be any bigger.
With the Saints undefeated (7-0) and the Falcons (4-2) fielding one the best teams in franchise history this season, this game is huge.
Monday Night football betting is almost always interesting and tonight’s game is no different.
The early line lists the Saints as an almost unbelievable 11½ point favorite in the Super Dome. Granted the Saints are the best team in the NFL, of that there is little argument. And it’s also true that the Falcons are coming off a humbling defeat on the road in Dallas.
But 11½ points is a massive spread and one that Monday Night football odds fans may want to look into.
With New Orleans you seem to always get big spreads as it’s a team that can put a bunch of points on the board in a hurry (both the offense and the defense). The Saints are also on pace to smash the single season NFL scoring record. You get the picture.
But the Falcons are no slouches either. This is a team that has the potential to be a playoff team -at the very least- and maybe even compete for a conference title.
In order to beat the Saints you need to play ball control offense, shorten the game, keep it out of Drew Brees’ hands, stop the saints passing over the middle and get a whole lot of luck.
The Falcons are capable of doing this and that’s why the smart bet is on Atlanta covering the spread.
