AFC North Battle (Sort of) on Monday Night

AFC North Battle (Sort of) on Monday NightThere’s nothing better than division rivalries in Monday Night Football betting, especially in the second half of the season when teams are jostling for playoff positioning. Unfortunately that won’t be the case in tonight’s AFC North Monday Night Football betting matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns.

But teams enter the game on the downslide and neither has much of chance at all of making the postseason. When this Monday Night Football odds contest was first scheduled in the preseason it looked pretty good on paper. But in practice both of these teams have been major disappointments this season.

Baltimore has been the better squad at 4-4 but after a hot start (3-0) the team has fairly collapsed. Joe Flacco came out of the gates looking like John Elway but of late has looked more like John Kitna. The running game still has some legs but the aging defense has been exploited time and time again, especially on the ground.

But the Ravens have little to fear from the Browns in these Monday Night Football odds who are eclipsed in passing futility by only the Oakland Raiders with both teams averaging just 136.1 yards per game in the air. The running game isn’t much better (99.6 ypg) and the defense gives up more yards per game than any other team (409 ypg).

The Ravens should feast on the hapless Browns as they did in week 3. The only thing that keeps this Monday Night Football betting remotely interesting is the fact that division rivalries are generally close games no matter what the records might indicate.
