Thanksgiving Day Blowout
There was once upon a time in NFL football odds that the Thanksgiving Day matchups were compelling. But with the Detroit Lions a staple on this holiday that hasn’t been the case for quite some time. That could change this NFL betting year with rookie QB Matthew Stafford playing some inspired football and leading to Detroit Lions in the future.
The Lions are coming off their longest NFL fooball odds winning streak of the year (1 NFL odds game) after knocking off the worst team in the football odds (Cleveland 1-9). At 6-4 the Packers, flawed as they are, are still in playoff contention. Catching NFC North leading Minnesota probably isn’t going to happen, but the Packers have a good shot at capturing a wildcard playoff spot.
In the end the Packers should be able to handle the Lions without much difficulty. The key will be keeping Stafford under constant pressure and keeping Aaron Rogers upright. Rogers leads the football odds league in sacks, part of it is the line’s fault and part of it is him holding the ball too long.
But against a very mediocre front like the Lions have Rogers should have plenty of time to dissect the home team. Green Bay’s defense should also be more than adequate to keep the flimsy Lion’s offense in check.
Stafford is the wildcard in this NFL football odds game and if he has a huge game the Lions have a chance in front of the home crowd. But the smart odds are on the Packers winning on Turkey-Day and keeping their wildcard hopes alive.
